SkyDome Planetarium Sponsorship Opportunity

Arkansas is 45th!   We have to change this.

According to 2019 NAEP scores, 4th grade Arkansas students ranked 45th in Math and Science.
With your investment in Arkansas students we’re working to change that.

The Arkansas SkyDome Planetarium travels to schools, libraries and youth organizations across Arkansas and our surrounding state with the planetarium and space science exhibits getting students excited about math and science.

The Need: Our current Classic Starlab planetarium is an older system.  The star projector (pictured to the right) is a light bulb with a film canister over it.  While it produces a good star field, it’s dim.  Once students are seated in the planetarium we have to wait 5 minutes for everyone’s eyes to adjust to begin.  We also have to manually attach little prisms to the canister to show the moon and planets.

While we are getting great reviews from our programs (see below) the projector’s life span is nearing an end and there is so much more we can do with today’s technology.

Opportunity: Digital Portable Planetarium System: $30,000

The video below demonstrates the ability of this innovative system to get kids excited about STEM.

Opportunity: We are looking for a sponsor(s) to help us upgrade to a digital projection system. As you can see in the videos these systems can transform how students learn about the cosmos.

We can use it to show professionally produced planetarium programming and bring our students the same shows / resources that are available in the largest planetariums in the world.

The upgraded dome is also larger, so it can accommodate up to 50 students.  The current planetarium seats about 25.

Digital SkyDome Partnership Proposal

Full Funding

  1. Permanently emboss organization’s name / logo on the outside of the dome. See below for example.

  1. Work with your organization to produce a 15-30 second full dome introductory video to be shown before all SkyDome presentations.

  2. Provide 30 free programs to schools (except travel) sponsored by your organization. You can designate the schools or criteria for the free programs.

  3. Each student that visits the SkyDome receives a bookmark encouraging them to read. We’ll distribute 30,000 bookmarks with your name / logo.

  4. Bring the system to your organization for a company event or as a demonstration.

  5. Once the planetarium arrives we’ll invite local news media and elected officials to a news conference demonstrating the system and sharing your commitment to STEM education.

Investment Partner – $3,000 (10 needed)

  1. We’ll provide 2 free programs to schools in your community that you can designate. Each student will receive a star chart with your name/logo so they know who sponsored the visit.

  2. Each student that visits the SkyDome receives a bookmark encouraging them to read. We will distribute 3,000 bookmarks with your name / logo.

  3. Bring the system to your organization for a company event or as a demonstration.

School Sponsor – $1,000 (30 needed)

  1. Sponsor a free program to a school in your community that you can designate. Each student will receive a star chart with your name/logo so they know who sponsored the visit.

  2. Each student that visits the SkyDome receives a bookmark encouraging them to read. We will distribute 1,000 bookmarks with your name / logo.

Last year we had over 5,000 students visit the SkyDome.  By the end of 2019 we’ll have visited over 40 schools / libraries across 4 states and conducted programs for over 7,000 students.

We can make arrangements for potential sponsors to visit during one of our upcoming programs so you can see firsthand the excitement our program generates and the possibilities the digital system can provide.

Businesses Making A Difference

  • Vision Works of Conway
  • Caldwell Toyota
  • Can we add your name here?

Most of our programs are during the daytime and when possible, we want to show the students things in the real sky as part of our programs.

Vision Works sponsored our solar telescope that has allowed hundreds of students the chance to safely look at the Sun.

The GPS telescope, sponsored by Cadwell Toyota, allows us to show students Venus, Mercury and Jupiter in the daytime sky and numerous celestial wonders at night.

For the many of them it is their first time to look through a telescope.

Left: Each student that visits the SkyDome receives a bookmark encouraging them to read and to explore the night sky.  This is our current bookmark with the GPS telescope sponsor.  This is a great way to reach families and show your commitment to education and community.

Our goal is to one day hear future astronauts, doctors, engineers and others say they became interested in science when a planetarium came to their school.

You can be part of making that happen!
